THE GOAN I NETWORK VALPOI Clashes erupted among two groups claiming rights to the Ravalnath Devasthan in Velus-Sattari, prompting the Sattari Mamlatdar to lock the temple and stop the Dussehra celebrations at the Devasthan. According to locals, the Gaonkar and Gurav groups have been involved in a dispute over rights to the Ravalnath temple for about 10 years and the dispute is pending in court. After committing the offence the tourists sped off from the site but were later detained at the border check post at Polem. The deceased has been identified as Sagar Shripad Naik, who is a resident of Anjuna and was employed to collect pay-parking fees on the beachside. The incident took place near the popular Anjuna beach area at around noon time. During the incident a large number of people were present on the spot but the tour- ists kept on beating the local, an eyewitness informed. Soon after getting information, Anjuna Police rushed to the spot and sent an alert to all border check posts to track the vehicle.
