This time an audit of the financial statements of the Urban Cooperative bank as on March 31, 2020 has revealed that the bank’s accumulated losses touched around Rs 63.47 crore. That’s not all, the audit report has observed that the bank has not been able to make profit due to restrictions on the smooth functioning of its business activities. The report has pegged the total accumulated losses to Rs 63.47 crore as on March 31, 2020. The report further observed that since the bank is placed under supervision restrictions by RBI under section 36(1) of Banking Regulation Act, 1949 with effect from November 2009, it has hampered the earnings capacity of the bank “There has been erosion of the net worth due to huge accumulated losses”, the report added. The MUCB has already come under the scanner of the Reserve Bank of India, with the Apex bank imposing restrictions on the bank on withdrawals of deposits by the depositors. Since last year, the MUCB was barred by the RBI from allowing depositors to withdraw beyond the prescribed limit. In this respect, the Cuncolim Police will register a case of murder in the death of 18-year old Anisha Velip, who was found dead in a rivulet near her house at Paddi on Sunday. The death was shrouded in mystery since 22year old boy, Sarvesh Gaonkar, who was seen around the spot where Anisha was found dead, was found hanging dead on a tree near his house at Carvrem village. Addressing the media, South Goa district Police Chief, SP Pankaj Kumar Singh said the findings of the post mortem examination reports The police is probing all angles... we are examining relatives of the deceased and their friends. He also declared that the roads across Goa will be repaired by May 2021. Speaking to media persons in Panaji, Pauskar stated, “All road networks across the State will be repaired by May 2021, a month within the completion of the work on the new Zuari Bridge. Sawant during the meeting told the protesters that the government will examine paying compensation to them in every possible way that fits rules including for loss of land as well as loss of livelihoods like cash crop farming. The meeting with representatives of the protesting villagers was hosted by Sawant at the new headquarter of the State Forest Department at Altinho on Monday.
