Installation of Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) would be mandatory and private bus operators would be eligible for fuel subsidy of Rs 3 per kilometre under the new scheme. ON MA MHAJI BUS SCHEME 2025 With the launch of the modified scheme, the government has discontinued Mhaji Bus’ scheme, launched on a pilot basis in August 2023’ on mode of revenue sharing with the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL). Under the new scheme, the operator will retain full fare revenue collected from the passengers and shall not be required to deposit any fare amount with KTCL. As reported by The Goan in it May 14 edition, the bus operators would be eligible for subsidy of Rs 3 per kilometre, 50 per cent reimbursement of the annual insurance premium paid up to maximum of Rs 30,000 and assistance of Rs10 lakh for replacing buses older than 15 years, with new buses having minimum seating capacity of 27. “The scheme aims to increase the availability of buses across the State, reduce traffic congestion, and promote the use of public transport, especially in rural and underserved areas,” Director Transport Pravimal Abhishek said in the notification issued. The move by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security came against the backdrop of Turkiye’s backing for Pakistan and its condemnation of India’s recent strikes on terror camps in the neighbouring country and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under ‘’Operation Sindoor’’. Pakistan had also used Turkish drones on a large scale in the military conflict with India. Official sources, meanwhile, said the government may discourage people from going to Turkiye as well as Azerbaijan, which had also actively supported Pakistan in the conflict. The government has now notified to procure the sugarcane produced by the farmers at the Central government notified Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP). In a notification issued, Director Agriculture Sandeep Fol Dessai said the scheme ‘Special Assistance for Sugarcane Grower’ introduced to the farmers from June 17, 2021 is withdrawn’. The decision is with the government’s approval. Under the five-year scheme, the government has so far paid Rs 40 crore to around 700-odd farmers. The Goan in its February 12 edition informed about the government plans to discontinue the scheme and bring in a new scheme based on FRP. Fol Dessai, however said that in order to assist the sugarcane growers to take up sugarcane cultivation in the State, the government has introduced a new scheme ‘Assistance towards Sugarcane supplied by the sugarcane 12 log on to thegoan.net ON FEB growers’. The Scheme will be in force for a period of two years -- 2026-27. Under the scheme, sugarcane cultivated by farmers/ cultivators will be supplied at Sanjivani Sugar Factory, and will be weighed there and provided/paid financial assistance as per FRP fixed by the National Federation of Co-operative Sugar Factories Ltd., New Delhi, from time to time. While the farmers will have to register with the sugar factory, they will be paid based on actual tonnage of canes weighed at the factory weighbridge.
