The chief minister said that the government will also make it mandatory for owners of such dogs to submit an affidavit taking full responsibility for any incidents. Speaking to reporters in Sankhali on Saturday, Sawant said some people have a hobby of keeping aggressive dogs as pets in their homes. “I feel really sorry for the child who lost his life because PLAN OF ACTION „„The government plans to prohibit the keeping of aggressive dogs in households, with a notification expected within 8-10 days „„Dog owners of aggressive breeds will be required to submit an affidavit accepting full responsibility for any incidents involving their pets „„The government’s commitment to making Goa a rabies-free State, will require strict penalties for owners of aggressive dogs „„The government is likely to impose mandatory registration for all dogs imported to Goa, especially the 23 dangerous breeds identified by the Centre of an aggressive dog. In a tragic incident, a 7-year-old boy lost his life on Thursday after being attacked by a Pit bull at a residence in Anjuna where his mother was employed as a housekeeper. The horrific event had occurred when the boy accompanied his mother to her workplace. According to the IMD Goa, the State received an actual average rainfall of 3,923.9 mm (154.48 inches) from June 1 to August 31, compared to the normal average of 2,689.3 mm (105.87 inches) – a 45.9 per cent surplus. On Saturday alone, Goa recorded an average of 26 mm of rainfall, higher than the normal 18.1 mm, marking a 143.4 per cent excess for the day. August recorded 38.10 inch rainfall. Although no weather warnings are in place for Sunday, IMD Goa indicated that moderate rainfall is likely across the State, with a yellow alert issued from September 2 to 4. The family members took possession of his body, which was preserved at the mortuary of the South Goa District Hospital after post-mortem examination.
