Despite numerous complaints to the Public Works Department (PWD) water division, the issue remains unresolved. Locals say the reddish-brown water is unsuitable even for boiling, let alone drinking or cooking, forcing many to depend on packaged water. "For the last several days, we have been receiving reddish water. Even after boiling, the colour remains the same and refuses to settle down,” a Calangute resident shared. India's healthcare system is undergoing significant transformation with the Centre announcing a vision to add 75,000 new medical seats over the next five years. “However, a critical bottleneck has been the availability of qualified faculty required to initiate or expand medical programs. These new regulations are a major step towards unlocking the existing human resource potential within government health systems and optimising medical education infrastructure,” it said. Strange it may seem, but true that nearly 60 per cent of the trial courts in Margao are non-functional for want of judges. Reason: Out of the 10 trial courts in Margao catering to Salcete taluka, there are no judges to preside over as many as six courts. Margao has a total of 10 courts -- four senior civil judges and the remaining six junior civil judges. Among the four senior civil judges, one court remains non-operational due to the absence of an incumbent judge. The situation is far more alarming at the junior civil judge level, where only one of the six courts is functional. The remaining five are inactive, once again due to the lack of appointed judges. Given the situation, the South Goa Advocates Association had in March last petitioned to the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court JUSTICE ON HOLD IN MARGAO 10 trial courts in Margao cater to Salcete taluka No judges to preside over in as many as six courts There are 4 senior civil judges and 6 junior civil judges in the 10 courts Among 4 senior civil judges, one court non-operational due to absence of incumbent judge At the junior civil judge level, only one of the six courts is functional Remaining five are inactive due to lack of appointed judges pointing out that since Margao is the commercial capital of Goa, 60 per cent non-functional courts in Margao is having a very major impact. However, since there is no change in the ground reality, the Association has now resolved to approach the High Court with a writ petition. Association President Adv Prasad Naik has said that there’s no judge in Canacona catering to the taluka. The sole judge in Canacona (junior civil judge) is presently in maternity leave and it is understood that she will not be available for next few months, he stated in the petition. He added: “In case of urgent matters, the papers have to be brought to Margao, where the judge holding charge for Canacona, is sitting. Margao is nearly 40 kilometers away from Canacona. This will cause tremendous hardship to Advocates and litigants of Canacona Taluka”. Adv Naik said such severe shortage of judges are resulting in frequent adjournments which, in INDIA CRACKS ENGLAND’S FORTRESS JINX BROKEN India scripted history as it was the first-ever Test win at the venue India previously played 8 matches in Birmingham and lost 7, while drawing one They finally broke the 58year jinx MATCH STATS Gill scored 430 with knocks of 269 in 1st innings and 161 in 2nd Akash picked 10 wickets, including a 6-wicket haul Siraj too helped with a total of 7 wickets India beat England by 336 runs to record their biggest away win in Test cricket’s history MUSK LAUNCHES 'AMERICA PARTY' AMID FEUD WITH TRUMP 1 US tech billionaire has Elon Musk said he formed a new political party to give Americans their freedom back. On Sunday, Bengaluru-based Sattva Group said it will invest Rs 800 crore in Goa's real estate and property market. The company, which is among the biggest real estate firms in South India, will make the investments over the next two years. The development comes days after reports emerged that another real estate giant, DLF, has sought cancellation of the State RERA registration of its controversial Rs 450 crore PROPERTY BOOM investments over next two years The group also has interests in hospitality and education It has developed 'Sattva Water's Edge' housing project on Dabolim-Chicalim plateau 'Bay View' project atop the Reis Magos hill overlooking the Mandovi river. RERA sources have said the cancellation of the registration was potentially to 'modify' the plans and seek fresh registration subsequently. There has been no communication from DLF yet explaining the reason behind its surprise move to cancel the RERA registration of the project. The Sattva group, which also has interests in hospitality and education, is already a significant investor in Goa and has developed the 'Sattva Water's Edge' housing project on the Dabolim-Chicalim plateau. Apart from this project's expansion in the second phase, the company's plans for two more projects are in the works. Meanwhile, Goa's real estate conundrum has faced multiple judicial orders reversing policy laws and executive orders which facilitated largescale freeing up of green zones for real estate development. The most recent judicial intervention was the judgement of the Bombay High Court at Goa which junked the two controversial ODPs of Calangute-Candolim and Arpora-Nagoa-Parra. Until now, one of the ways to get Dubai's Golden Visa from India was to invest in property whose value should be at least AED Two Million (Rs 4.66 crore), or invest a large amount in business in the country. Under the new nomination-based visa policy, Indi- ans can now enjoy the UAE's Golden Visa for life by paying a fee of AED 1,00,000 (INR around 23.30 lakh), beneficiaries and people involved in the process have told PTI. Over 5,000 Indians will apply for this nomination-based visa in three months. India and Bangladesh have been selected for the first phase of testing this visa, and a consultancy Rayad Group has been chosen to test the initial form of the golden visa in India. Rayad Kamal Ayub, Managing Director of Rayad Group, said this is a golden opportunity for Indians to get the UAE's Golden Visa.
