The Law Minister further said the government has started tightening screws on succession deeds and other deeds to put an end to land grab in the State. I had made the statement earlier this on the issue since I was attending a programme organised by the South Goa Advocates Association. Since some of these are notaries, I have sought the cooperation of Advocates to work hand in hand to stop land grab”, he said. When media asked him to name the notaries who have come under scanner, Sequeira shot back “open the Jhadav Commission report and you can have a look at the names”. Sequeira asserted that it is a fact that land grab cannot take place without the connivance of the notaries. Asked whether the government is contemplating action against notaries whose names find a mention in the Jhadav Commission report, the Law Minister said the government will terminate the services of all the notaries, who have been named in the report. “The process to initiate action against the notaries is underway. I will terminate the services of the notaries. This is a commitment I want to give today”, Sequeira added He said action against the notaries named in the Commission report will not only act as a deterrent, but will send a message loud and clear to those who care a damn that the government will take care of them too. THE GOAN I NETWORK PANAJI Just before handing over the probe of the multi-crore investment fraud case to the Crime Branch, the Economic Offenses Cell conducted searches of bank lockers belonging to the absconding accused couple Myron Rod- MULTI-CRORE FRAUD rigues and Deepali Parab, as well as Myron’s ex-wife, Sunita Rodrigues. The search led to the recovery of gold ornaments valued at Rs 3 crore and other documents. Details shared by SP Rahul Gupta revealed that the EOC Police Station obtained a search warrant from the JMFC ‘C’ Court, Margao, and conducted searches of bank lockers at HDFC Bank, Fator- PRIZED CATCH 4,125 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 3 cr (approx) Original receipts, invoices for gold purchases made by Myron & Deepali Original sale deed, title documents of a villa in Nuvem purchased by Myron Documents related to home loan availed by Myron da Branch. These lockers included one hired by Deepali, one jointly hired by Myron and Sunita, and another jointly hired by Myron and Deepali. The searches were carried out in the presence of two panch witnesses and bank officials, along with the assistance of expert services. Gupta said that the EOC recovered 4,125 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 3 crore approx, and original receipts and invoices for gold purchases made by Myron and Deepali. Another locker contained an empty jewellery box while a separate locker held an original sale deed and title documents for a villa in Nuvem village, purchased by Myron. Documents related to a home loan Myron availed were also found. “All gold ornaments and documents have been attached under the panchanama,” the SP said. Myron and Deepali, believed to be masterminds in the case, along with other directors of the fake investment firm are booked for duping several people. The FIR registered in October 2023 has not led to any arrests while Myron is allegedly hiding in London.
